A career that spans systems administration, public school teaching, and enterprise cybersecurity, all pointing toward one goal: making security human.
Russ started in IT in 2000, earning CompTIA A+ and MCSE certifications before spending nearly a decade as a Systems Administrator. That hands-on infrastructure experience shapes how he thinks about real-world threats today.
A master's degree in education and seven years in public schools gave Russ something most cybersecurity professionals lack: the ability to teach. Complex threats become clear explanations. Jargon becomes plain language anyone can act on.
For over 10 years, Russ has served as Program Chair and Lead Instructor at a technical school, helping hundreds of adult learners pass IT certification exams. That same teaching philosophy now drives every UrCybersecurity session.
