My Experience

I have over a decade of experience in cybersecurity and a strong passion for helping individuals stay secure online. As an advocate for cybersecurity, I am constantly exploring new ways to raise awareness about online safety.

One of the ways I achieve this is through media outreach. I frequently write articles and provide interviews to inform people about the latest cybersecurity issues. Additionally, I give talks to various groups, including students, businesses, and community organizations, to educate them on the importance of cybersecurity.

I also leverage social media platforms to share valuable insights and connect with individuals who are eager to learn more about cybersecurity. Through my efforts, I hope to empower people to take a proactive approach to online security and make a difference in the fight against cybercrime.

Back in 2007, I had the opportunity to share my insights on the importance of retirement planning with New York's Newsday newspaper. At the time, I was passionate about the potential of Roth IRAs, especially for those who start saving early. To this day, I am still a huge supporter of Roth IRAs and the benefits they can bring to your retirement. I was not able to find the online article from Newsday, but I found it with the Chicago Tribune.

Let’s go back to the year 2006. I was living on Long Island, NY, in my apartment waiting for my girlfriend to finish up so we can go out. I was waiting patiently, watching TV. I had Suze Orman on because knowing about money is very important. During Suze’s show, there was a brief advertisement to submit a question, so I did. Days later, MSNBC called me (I thought it was a prank call — what we called a false phone call back in da’ day). After a brief conversation, a limo picked us up and went into Manhattan. I did not tell my girlfriend that Suze and I blamed her for a few things on national TV. My girlfriend found out months later when the show aired! She did marry me!

I had the pleasure to discuss with Good Morning Texas the measures that can be taken to ensure safety while working remotely. It is important to assess the security level of your Wi-Fi network, as well as the security of your workstation and login credentials.

I had the chance to talk to My Carolina about strategies for maintaining focus and productivity while working and learning from home, both for adults and children. Despite the easing of the pandemic, parents are still facing the challenge of juggling work and childcare responsibilities.

I had the opportunity to engage in a conversation with WRAL concerning strategies for maintaining online safety throughout Amazon Prime Day. From utilizing intricate passwords to implementing multifactor authentication, the crucial aspect of ensuring online safety lies in cyber-education. Cyber education is vital because it equips individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect themselves from online threats and scams. It empowers them to make informed decisions, recognize potential risks, and employ effective strategies to safeguard their personal information and digital assets.

During my pursuit of CISSP certification, I aimed to join forces with fellow IT professionals who were either preparing for or had already cleared the exam. To this end, I established a Facebook group named Cybersecurity Lounge (CSL) with the intention of realizing my objective. As time progressed, the group’s membership increased significantly, and it now boasts a global community of over 150,000 members.

I had the privilege of conversing with Authority Magazine, during which we delved into ways of improving an organization’s approach to data privacy and cybersecurity. Our discussion encompassed a broad range of topics, from social engineering to network security, emphasizing the crucial importance of prioritizing asset protection.

During my conversation with WRAL, we discussed the safety of online shopping and how cyber attackers target users who are not well-versed in online security. I emphasized that being knowledgeable about online security measures is key to staying safe while shopping online.

As a former elementary school teacher, I understand the importance of children's safety, particularly when it comes to online activity. Recently, I had the opportunity to discuss with WRAL some strategies for safeguarding children while they explore the internet.

The Raleigh, NC region known as the "Triangle" is experiencing rapid growth and development, with a number of large corporations already established and more on the way. Recently, I had a conversation with WRAL Techwire regarding the potential impact of Apple's presence in the Triangle area.

Remote Learning

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, schools worldwide have implemented remote learning to protect the well-being of students and teachers. Although remote learning offers benefits like flexibility and convenience, it also presents children with various challenges, such as limited face-to-face interaction, technology barriers, and distractions at home. Additional issues include a lack of structure, minimal support, and mental health concerns. During a conversation with WBTV, we explored ways to address these concerns.

During times of economic recession, the IT sector experiences both challenges and opportunities. On one hand, companies may reduce their IT budgets and postpone investments in new technologies due to financial constraints. This can lead to a slowdown in IT projects, job losses, and a decrease in demand for IT services. Additionally, businesses might focus on cost-cutting measures, such as consolidating IT infrastructure or outsourcing certain IT functions.

Being safe online while holiday shopping is crucial to protect personal and financial information from cyber threats. Cybercriminals often exploit the increased online activity during the season, attempting to steal sensitive data. Vigilance helps prevent identity theft, financial loss, and ensures a secure and enjoyable shopping experience.
